All children have the right to deep learning experiences that balance all aspects of History and Geography. Both subjects have a range of cross curricular links including maths, English and Technology. All children are provided with a variety of resources to enable them to research the given topics and to retrieve the information needed. Children in our school are taught the skills to think critically about events that have and that are currently taking place in the world around them in both of these subjects.

- Progression of skills being covered, so the children’s learning is moving forwards- we mapped out these skills as a staffing community and they are now all on Arbor as well as Skills Progression document.
Regular learning walks are undertaken to see how the subjects are being implemented and that there is enough of a focus on the skills and knowledge. All year groups have a very good curriculum knowledge and teach both subjects well, linking them into every topic that they teach throughout the year. There are good curriculum links with other subjects, particularly with English and Maths when looking at timescales of when events happened in History. Pupils are given a timeline and each topic starts with plotting the main event on this, other significant events are then added on giving a snapshot of events that have been learnt about. Pupils have a good range of resources available to them to allow them to research their topics - Chromebooks, atlases, maps, history books and artifacts.

- Trips and visits, that support the delivery and engagement of the topics, have been organised- providing an enriching curriculum and offering a variety of cultural experiences.
- We are catering for our Disadvantage Pupils by providing trips and visits (pay for these/ subsidise them), we have our Knowledge Organisers for History which support their learning (pre teaching, resource prompt), some cross curricular learning e.g. art from different parts of the world and history. We are now moving onto if a disadvantaged pupil expressed an interest/ passion/ ability for a curriculum area- the subject leader would put this provision in place with the support of the DA coordinator.
- All students and backgrounds are catered for so that they can reach their full potential.
- Ensuring we use a wide range of geographical and historical resources (using artifacts and technology if it is appropriate and expands the learning experience).
- Every topic should include the VR headsets (minimum once a term). Teachers may also make use of KAHOOT, Jamboard, Nearpod, Flipgrid etc.
Our Humanities curriculum is high quality, well thought out and is planned to demonstrate progression. We regularly monitor the impact of children's progression termly, there are clear assessments in place to allow this and we ensure that every topic has meaningful links to other areas of the curriculum.
FADE Forms - after completing a FADE form, feedback is given back to teachers. This is either via a staff meeting or via individual or year group/ phase meetings. On the next book scan cycle, subject leaders reflect back on the previous EBI’s to ensure they have been met or evidence that they are working towards meeting these.
